Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding an attic piano and being awed by the music it could produce. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get work or for a passion and as a way to improve. As a result, she began writing songs of her own. She acknowledges Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork for being among her inspirations. She began performing her songs publicly when her mother said they can help other people, not to gain fame with her work but to make those around them see the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. When she was six She began playing the piano and at nine began writing her own songs. She didn't tell her family about her music until she reached fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Her sole passion is to write music. According to her, the music she writes is the way that she feels anything.
